Ian

Ian Tunbridge

Lead Instructor

I love pottery, so much! I first took a class at this studio a few short years ago, and I just never left! I find the process very relaxing and thearaputic. I find myself litteraly hipnotized by the wheel, lost in the feeling of the clay magically taking shape in my hands. It has taught me so many life lessons, like patience, concentration, stillness, and grace.

I really love sharing the experience with other people. I'm genuinely inspired by other artists at every skill level. I gain new perspective and insight into the experience from every new artist I meet. What I love most about working with clay, is that it is so intuative and you discover new details every time you sit down at the wheel!

Savannah

Savannah Maea

Instructor

I am Utah native and was first introduced to pottery in high school. Then in college, I took another ceramics course, reigniting my love for the art. I purchased a small wheel and continued to practice making creations on my balcony. I have been fortunate enough to expand my home studio and still keep in touch with others in the pottery community through teaching.

I am always excited to share my love of this tedious and unforgiving art form. When I’m not in the studio, my husband and I enjoy taking our dog ATVing, football games, and planning our next vacation!

Natalie

Natalie Winward

Instructor

I first began ceramics as a form of escapism during grad school. It quickly grew from a hobby to an obsession as I found myself craving time on the wheel during lectures.

To me, ceramics is reflective of countless life lessons. Through my pottery practice, I’ve learned patience, non-attachment and releasing perfectionism (among many other things). Something about having hands on earth and the hypnotic, cyclical movement of the wheel is deeply therapeutic and nourishing for my creative soul. Currently, I’m enjoying refining basic skills and experimenting with new shapes and designs.

I love teaching ceramics and getting to know people! It’s fun to not take yourself too seriously and to explore a new creative outlet. Come take a class with me!

Linda

Linda Watkins

Senior Instructor

I have a BFA in Art and since my university days have worked professionally as a public school arts & crafts teacher, as the director of Arts & Crafts program in Thailand and Berlin for the US Milatary. As well as in the US for regular studios like this one.

My main Art & Craft interests currently are pottery, specifically wheel throwing, and even more specifically the decorating of wheel thrown pottery. There are many ways to decorate pottery beyond just waxing the bottom and dipping the piece in a bucket of glaze. My current favorite tequniques deal with underglaze and sgraffito, mishima, ombra to name a few.

Come join use at the studio and take a class in ceramic decorating with me. It'll be su much fun & exilarating you will never go back to just dipping your pieces again!

Estelle

Estelle Dickerson

Instructor

Estelle has been obsessed with clay since she took her first pottery classes back in 2017. Now, having made a full-time career out of it, she loves nothing more than sharing her joy of throwing on the wheel with others! Her favorite things to make are mugs and planters with designs that are often inspired by nature. When she’s not teaching or creating for her business, you’ll find her hiking with her dog, traveling, or curled up with her laptop writing a fantasy novel.

You can see her pottery for yourself on her Instagram, @alpinereflection

Jacob

Jacob Peterson

Instructor

Hello, my name is Jacob Peterson. I grew up in both Washington and Oregon and I moved to Utah as a teenager. I began my ceramics journey in highschool where I took AP ceramics. After high school I attended the University of Utah and proceeded to take some ceramics courses during my time there. If you end up taking a class with me feel free to suggest music for us to listen to during the lesson. Other hobbies/ interests of mine include photography, gaming, philosophy, anime, and travel. Feel free to let me know during class if you’ve got any recommendations within the interests I mentioned, or teach me about other fun hobbies that I should learn more about. I look forward to seeing you in class, teaching you some pottery and getting ourselves a little muddy to try and create something nice!
